War Barracuda is inspired by my families' experience fleeing the Vietnam war and building a new life. My grandparents are from Phú Quốc and they owned one of the first fish sauce factories in the area. I chose to depict a barracuda since the area is known for them, but also since it is a more aggressive fish. The lotus flower was chosen for its representation in Vietnamese culture and the resilience they have. I have five florals to represent my mom and her siblings.
The chop mark at the bottom is inspired by my grandparents' home windows and their factory windows. I merged them together to make it my own, while also representing my lineage.
