Lychee Delivery is inspired by my parents' love story. They met in Vietnam when they were younger. My mom's favorite fruit is lychee and it was out of season. So, my dad drove across the island of Phú Quốc to deliver her some.
The moped is made of laser-engraved wood that was stained, painted, and assembled. The lychee is made of a toilet paper/joint compound concoction. The base is tin foil and wire. I did many layers until the form was to my liking. It is painted with acrylic and glazed with pink ink. The light detail is filled with resin and the mirrors have holographic vinyl. The base is a slab of natural wood that was flocked with static grass. The scenery was made to represent my road at home, but also the foliage and environment of Phú Quốc. I wanted to make a physical amalgamation of my parents' past love and how I came to be. I wanted this piece to display the personal and playful sides of myself.
